18k Diamond, Carved Rock Crystal & Nephrite Jade Vintage Flower Brooch, c 1950
18K yellow gold, carved and frosted rock crystal, and carved nephrite jade beautifully executed flower brooch.
This piece bears the hallmark instituted in September of 1939 which applies to the general area around northern Moravia, Bohemia and Austrian Silesia now Czechoslovakia. The brooch considered to be Austria is 18K yellow gold and features a pair of delicately carved, frosted rock crystal (quartz) flowers and three simple palmate leaves of carved transparent nephrite.
The piece also possesses two very small round brilliant, full cut diamonds, G/H color and VS or better in clarity. One of these centers each flower. The pin is all but 2 inches in length ahd 1.25 inches in width.
The gross weight of this brooch is 12.8 grams. Its composition is elegant, indeed chic, and coveys instantly all that one need to see to understand a twig of a shrub in bloom. The condition of this circa 1950's is "as new".
