Amethyst of Gem quality and fine white Diamond 18K Ring
Amethyst and Diamond Large and Important 18K White Gold Ring.
This is a large, 1.25 inches vertically, by 1 - 1/8th inch ring that possesses a complex white on white design and that centers a 9.5 ct. emerald cut gem amethyst of vivid purple color. This ring also possesses 64 baguette cut diamonds equaling an estimated 1.09 cts., of F/G color (colorless to near colorless), and very slightly included or better clarity stones and 166 round brilliant cut diamonds estimated to weigh 4.04 cts., also colorless to near colorless and very slightly included or better clarity. In total the ring has 5.13 cts. of very fine diamonds.
This large striking ring is a size 6.5 and can be easily resized. It is marked 18K, 750, and bears a maker's mark, which is unknown to us. In new condition, the ring weights 14.78 grams.
Pierre/Famille notes from the Conservator of the collection:
Much of modern production is organized, designed and executed in ways that tend to lower costs for the producer. This is especially true today when world supply chains are challenged in terms of time and costs. How refreshing then to encounter the opposite situation in this instant example. The double emerald cut frame of carefully set round brilliant cut diamonds, the eight lobed white on white elements on the periphery of the ring, the quality of the superb emerald cut amethyst and the use of 18K as opposed to 14K white gold - all belie the notion that this ring's original designer was making a dive toward the bottom of the quality scale in all decisions associated with this piece.
