GIA Natural Unheated Ceylon Sapphire 4.54 cts. & Diamond Antique Ring, c. 1920
G.I.A. Sapphire displaying a rich royal endless blue color. The sapphire weighs exactly 4.54 cts., and found to be from Sri Lanka (Ceylon), and unheated. This means that the stone was not subjected to high heat levels by man to improve both the color and clarity. This cushion cut sapphire, held by eight eagle's talon prongs, is bright because of the clarity of the stone.
Both of these qualities is quite desirable and rarely found.
The setting of platinum topped 18K yellow gold is well made and an unusual wreath like motif. The old cut diamonds are both mine and European cut stones, near colorless (H/I) and very slightly included (VS). The diamond weight is estimated to be 1.0 cts.
The ring is a size 6.5. and can easily be resized. The shank may have been replaced.
