Antique Vinaigrette, in Silver and Vermeil with a Fish Motif, Necklace, c. 1892
Antique silver vinaigrette. Rare humorous (what could smell better than a dead fish) antique figural silver piece which opens to reveal a cleverly drawn vignette of reeds and vines by the water's edge. Highly collectible but also wearable as a pendant of undeniably intriguing, conversational significance, the fish measures 2.5 inches in length and 1.5 inches across his body. He is sterling silver with gold vermeil on his head, fins and the interior. Today one could use this to hold pills or..? He is in fine condition. The English hallmarks, indicating his silver purity and age, are located on a lip on the interior of the piece. Mr. fish is suspended on a 26 inch sterling silver contemporary chain. All items sold are gift wrapped and are accompanied by a detailed appraisal by our gemologist, as well as all original GIA certificates, if specified in listing. As always, we guarantee all of pieces, forever.
