Jean Majie began in 1969 as a collaboration between a father-in-law (Jean Marie Mazard) and a daughter-in-law (Jacline Mazard). Jean Marie was a successful businessman who late in life sold his business and with no training decided to try his hand at making and selling jewelry. Jacline, also without any formal or classic training, decided to pursue sculpture in gold with the hope that the sculpture could be worn as jewelry.
