Antique Natural Pearl and Diamond Platinum Ring
Antique platinum and diamond ring centering a very fine natural salt water pearl. This large natural pearl has been examined by the Gemological Institute of American and has been identified as a natural salt water pearl species, Pinctada with no evidence of treatment. This is in short the finest and rarest of natural pearls. This large pearl, with fine proportions has fine luminescence, a clean smooth surface (skin), no blemishes, and a fine even silver white color. It measures 8.82 by 8.48 mm. The Edwardian antique platinum ring is set on the shoulders with older cut fine white diamonds. There are 24 European cut diamonds all well matched and estimated to weigh .50 cts. These near colorless, very slightly included diamonds are bead set in a lovely pattern. This platinum ring in fine condition is also signed partially (the remaining letters are worn off), with the maker's name in block letters, MA which probably stands for Marcus & Co. a fine old American firm. Not only did Marcus & Co. sign their pieces beginning with the same, MA (in bold caps), and this ring bears the same quality of workmanship and fine stones as a piece by this fine firm. This ring is a size 5.5 and can easily be resized.
