GIA 3.02 Antique Cushion Diamond G, VS1 in a Halo of Diamonds in a Platinum Ring
This is a GIA (Gemological Institute of America) cushion brilliant. This center stone ALONE weighs 3.02 cts. It is a natural diamond - not synthetic or lab grown! Additionally a "cushion brilliant" possesses much higher brilliance than the common "modified cushions" that over populate today's market. Our diamond is a classic antique likely of European origin and in this ring it is prong set and appears to be floating within a halo of diamonds. The headquarters of GIA has examined this center stone and graded it as a G (highest end of the near colorless range) and VS1 (very slightly included to the first degree). The 30 small bead set diamonds weighing totally 0.33 cts., are also near colorless, (G/H) and very slightly included. The total diamond weight for this ring is 3.35 cts.
The central diamond weighs exactly 3.02 cts. and has a depth of 52.3%. This results in the diamond facing up like a 3.6 ct. stone. In short, the lower depth percentage favors an outcome which many of our clients prefer. They pay for 3 ct stone but receive a stone that looks like it is over 3.5 cts. They would rather forsake the ideal percentage of 60% in favor of a fine diamond that looks larger on the finger. GIA has graded this diamond as having a symmetry of good and a polish of very good. Consider the unfortunate situation of someone who buys a stone with a depth of, not 56%, but over 70%. In that circumstance the diamond looks closer to a 2.25 ct stone. It is a diamond highly inefficient economically.
The platinum and 18K white gold ring is in fine condition, a size 6.5 and can be resized. We would sell the center diamond loose and not with the setting as we realize that one might envision a different setting possibly more to their liking. Please message us here and we will give out the price of the stone alone based on the current Rapaport NY wholesale price list.
