Platinum, gold and fine Diamond Three Leaf motif Vintage Hair Barrette
Platinum, 15K and fine diamond leaf motif vintage hair barrette, c. 1950. 19 straight baguette cut diamonds are channel set in the center and surrounded by 43 round diamonds, bead set. The 62 diamonds are estimated to weigh 1.75 cts. These stones estimated to be near colorless and slightly included to the first degree.
The top of this piece is platinum and the back is approximately 14-15K. The piece is not marked. We have performed a test to confirm the metal content. The piece weighs 6.9 grams. This barrette is easy to slide into the hair and the back then snaps well into place. It was made to hold a small amount of hair. Once in place, it holds well and does not slip out. The piece measures 1.229 inches horizontally and 0.859 inches vertically.

Unless stated otherwise or as exactly, all weights, grades and metal content of our pieces are approximated by our Gemologist using both GIA Instruments as well as instruments used as a standard and accepted practice. Also, all metals are approximated within 1%. This allows for the legal tolerance in the jewelry industry. For example, 14K signifies 58.3% gold, jewelers can legally label a piece as 14K as long as it is above 13K, or 54.2%.
