Art Deco platinum, diamond and fancy cut sapphire ring, c. 1920. There are 14 vivid blue fancy cut natural sapphires both diamond shape and triangular shape. The estimated weight of these fine stones is 2.0 cts. These geometrically cut stones are clean, bright with very fine color. Finding such well matched sapphires and then having them fancy cut specifically for this ring, and finally setting all of the stone shows us that a very fine jewelry house made this ring.
The center Old European cut diamond is estimated to weigh .37 cts. This stone is estimated to be J/K in color, and the clarity VS, very slightly included. The smaller Older European cut diamonds are estimated to be H/I in color with a clarity of very slightly included. These smaller diamonds are estimated to weigh .45 cts. Therefore, the estimated diamond weight is .82 cts.
This diamond shaped platinum ring is made well with an ornate gallery underneath. The stones are held in finely milgrained bezels.
This is an early Art Deco ring; it is geometric with strong color contrasts. It also possesses a delicacy which is a hallmark of the earlier time period Edwardian. For this reason, we feel it is an early Art Deco piece.
The ring in excellent condition is a size 6.25 and can be resized. The shank is stamped plat. for platinum.
