Vintage Patek Philippe 18K Hour Glass Wristwatch. c. 1948.
Vintage Hourglass Patek Philippe 18k gold wristwatch, crafted in Switzerland. This timepiece features a rectangular case with a manual movement. The dial includes a small second subdial, and the watch is protected by a sapphire crystal. It showcases a Swiss movement, ensuring precision and reliability.
The watch is all original and has recently been serviced by our master watchmaker. The original Patek Philippe movement is in fine condition and fine working order. We guarantee our watches for one year (We exclude any obvious damage caused to the watch, if this does happen, we are happy to assist you). The dial is original and has NOT been refinished. This is important to many watch collectors. Today many watches have been refinished making the watch look new, thus hurting the value of a fine vintage watch. The Patek Philippe signature on the dial is sharp. We can refinish the dial for the prospective purchaser making it look new; however, we do not recommend doing this.
The case is also original and has slight surface scratches. Again, we have not polished the case to make the watch look new as we would like to keep the original patina. The split dial has slight scratches as well as a slight percussion (which is only on the surface) close to the 9 number.
The watch measures 1.6 inches in length. The Patek Philippe strap is made of dark leather and is in used condition. The watch does not come with the original receipt or the original box.
Beginning in 1944, and for the next 23 years, Patek Philippe had only made about 500 of these watches in yellow gold. The hourglass shape, one of the first unusual shaped wristwatches, was designed by Patek Philippe's master case maker Markowski.

In the process we have had the extraordinary good fortune of meeting remarkable people - some collectors, others just extremely interesting individuals who have taken the time and effort to examine their lives and select things that tend to make them smile, or admire, or just wonder at the exciting endlessly creative and nuanced panoply of jeweled artifacts.
