Set in 18K white gold, this large well hand crafted ring appears to be gradually opening to reveal its treasures of fine natural color, natural pearls.
These natural saltwater pearls graduate from 4.8 mm on top of the ring to 1.9 mm as the side as the design moves to the side of the ring where the shank begins. In all, there are 38 natural pearls, ranging in colors from violet to pink to peach to silver and white. The pearls all have excellent luminescent, a high depth of nacre and clean surfaces - just as they had when they came out of the oyster.
This unusual ring, designed with such imagination, is a wonderful repository for these very rare and desirable pearls.
At each end of the ring there are one or three stylized folded triangles of graduated white gold each pave set with fine diamonds which seem to be set in all the interstices where the pearls are not.
In total, 144 small round brilliant cut diamonds of F/G color (colorless to near colorless) and very very slightly included to very slightly included (VVS/VS) in clarity. These well cut collection quality diamonds display all the scintillation that 3 cts of diamonds can present to the wearer.
What one realizes gazing at this ring is that it is at once classic and contemporary, simple and sophisticated, unique and sublime. The design is nothing that one has ever seen before - the piece makes you smile rather than shock or surprise you.
This ring, in excellent condition (it appears unworn) is a tour de force of jewelry design and execution. It does bear a maker's mark of OF, which is unknown to us. It also bears a French import mark. This ring is a size 7 and can be sized.
