Antique Rose Cut Diamond Swallow Brooch, c. 1860
Antique swallow brooch paved with rose cut diamonds set in silver. The length is two inches. The 56 white diamonds are well matched and average 1.0 to 3.0 points., with a total approximate weight of 1.0 cts. The swallow's eye is a small ruby. On the verso, the pin stem assembly, which is yellow gold, can be removed. The pin is in fine condition and an excellent example of jewelry from the 19th century. The antique pin is well made and has no marks as to country of origin or gold and silver content. This is not unusual for such an early piece. We have performed an acid test to confirm that the silver is probably 800 silver, and the yellow gold is approximately 10K to 12K yellow gold.
