- Antique Portrait Enamel, Gold and Rose cut Diamond locket Pendant, c. 1860. SOLD
Antique Portrait Enamel, Gold and Rose cut Diamond locket Pendant, c. 1860. SOLD
Sold. Antique multi-color portrait enamel portraying a neo classical scene of a cherub resting on a font as water luxuriously flows out. This fine scene is accented with 5 rose cut diamonds set in silver and is attached on a carved black onyx pendant. The verso has ornate initials in gold surrounded by a intricate gold frame. This back swings opens, originally for a sentimental piece of hair; today, it is perfect for a photograph.
The enamel scene is finely done and probably executed in Switzerland as at that time, many top enamelist worked in Switzerland.
The locket and bale measure 2.5 inches in length. The locket is photographed on a contemporary gold chain which is not included in the price.
