Blue Star Unheated Sapphire, 32 cts., GIA Certified, Platinum Ring by Pierre/Famille.
Star Sapphire, unheated platinum ring hand crafted by Pierre/Famille. Accompanied with a certificate from the Gemological Institute of American (GIA), stating this is a natural unheated sapphire. This cabochon cut star sapphire weighs 32 cts., and is a pleasing medium blue color with a hint of violet. The handmade platinum mounting has a high polish, is simple and classic in design. The four eagle's talon prongs hold the stone well, yet are very sleek providing a stunning architectural silhouette.
Star sapphires overall will have an opalescence or velvety luster. The star in the center, radiating out to the periphery of the stone, is caused by very small needle shaped inclusions called an asterism.
When the light reflects off these tiny inclusions, one sees the star effect. This is best seen under one light source. We have shown this stone at different light levels. All stars are best seen in sunlight
This ring is in new condition, a size 7 and can be resized.
Today, a preponderance of jewelry is machine made in large factories around the world with abundant and obvious suspensions as to its enduring qualities using not only inferior stones, but also man made stones and treated stones utilizing artificial substances. Alternatively, this handcrafted platinum ring possesses a large and fine natural sapphire.
