Van Cleef & Arpels, George L'enfant 18k Vintage Cufflinks, French, C. 1960
George L'Enfant for Van Cleef & Arpels, designed as a series of interlocking links, each finely carved. The cufflinks are signed, hallmarked and numbered along with French gold marks. The cufflinks, each side slightly different, are easy to put on and off as one side flips down to fit through the cuff. The cufflinks are in fine condition, weigh 14 grams, .75 inches long (when both ends are up), the larger knot is .75 inches in diameter, and the smaller 5/8th inches.
These cufflinks were undoubtedly from the George L'Enfant workshop in Paris and probably designed by George L'Enfant's son, Jacques, who's excelled in the art of goldsmithing. His forte was designing in yellow gold which always display different carved textures, patinas, and woven patterns -such as our cufflinks.
All items sold are accompanied by a detailed Statement of Value by our gemologist, as well as all original gemological documentation, if specified in the listing. Over the decades of our stewardship as a small but exemplary purveyor of the jeweler's art, we have strived to offer a fine and authentic selection, in excellent condition, of collectible jewels from all highly sought time periods at competitive prices and even lower prices, if possible. In the process we have had the extraordinary good fortune of meeting remarkable people - some collectors, others just extremely interesting individuals who have taken the time and effort to examine their lives and select things that tend to make them smile, or admire, or just wonder at the exciting endlessly creative and nuanced panoply of jeweled artifacts.
