Cartier Art Deco diamond and Sapphire Platinum Antique Clip Brooch/Hair Barrette
ON HOLD. Cartier Art Deco Diamond and Sapphire Platinum Antique Double Clip Brooch and Hair Barrette, Signed and numbered by Cartier, this Art Deco jewel it is magnificent. The natural unheated sapphires (probably from Burma), are a bright vivid blue, they are estimated to weigh 4.5 cts. The diamonds are all well matched, estimated to be F in color (colorless), and very, very slightly included (VVS) in clarity. They are estimated to weigh .98 cts.
This piece can be worn either as a brooch or as a hair barrette. Leave it to the great jeweler Cartier to design a piece that can slide through fabric smoothly and easy to wear in the hair and, because this clip is slightly curved it will hold any thickness of hair. The two pinstems squeeze together and each fit into its holder making the barrettes quite comfortable.
This Cartier Art Deco diamond and unheated Burma sapphire platinum brooch/hair barrette was purchased with an architecturally identical but very slightly larger ruby brooch (1/16th inch longer, and 1/8th inch wider). This very slightly smaller sapphire Cartier brooch measures 1- 7/8th in length, and one half of an inch in width. The diamond and unheated Burma Ruby brooch is 5/8th of an inch in width, and 1-15/16th of an inch in length. The sapphire brooch has a weight of 11.9 grams, and the ruby brooch has a weight of 19.2 grams.
