1920s French Art Deco Carved Lapis Gold Necklace
Seventeen finely carved - on both sides- lapis and interspersed with gold spheres that hand made and non-symetrical and terminating with an unusual finely carved gold clasp/center piece. The lapis is a very bright blue with gold specks. The carving is finely executed in a floral motif. And, the central element, which is also the clasp, is the largest piece of lapis measuring 1.25 inches by .75 inches, and 6.7 mm thick. This was made in Paris circa 1920, and bears French hallmarks and a cartouche which is illegible. The necklace is 18 inches in length.
