Necklace 3b

This splendid example of early 19th century jewelry, likely European, consists of at least 60 cts. of foil backed pink topaz and 80 natural pearls. The pendant is detachable and may be worn separately as a brooch (with later fittings).

From 1825 onward jewelry design was inspired most by the romanticism and symbolism of things gothic or from the Renaissance. The scrolling wirework in a heraldic motif around each pink topaz is but on indication of how proper our necklace from 1830 was.
